RL Cold, a developer of cold storage facilities across the U.S., recently broke ground on a 292,000-square-foot cold storage facility within the Airlake Industrial Park in Lakeville.

Graycor Construction Company is the general contractor and Ware Malcomb is the design partner on the project, which will “meet the demands of the area’s underserved cold storage market,” according to a press release.

Project supporters held a ceremonial groundbreaking on May 7.

“This facility will leverage the latest refrigeration technology to provide top-tier cold storage solutions that meet the evolving need of our customers,” Josh Lewis, chief operating officer at RL Cold, said in a statement. "With a strategic location and expansion capabilities, it will enhance logistics efficiency and streamline supply chain operations for businesses across the region."

The Lakeville build will feature “advanced refrigeration technology including a transcritical Co2 system to provide precision in temperature control, optimal storage conditions for perishable items and energy efficiency,” according to the release.

Scheduled for completion in spring 2025, the facility will also offer 50-foot clear height, 70-foot-deep truck dock, up to 34,000 pallet positions, 98 employee parking spots, 61 truck spots and 38 truck dock doors.
