LAKEWOOD - Township police are investigating a possible bullet hole left in a doorframe of a Cedar Street home Monday night after a loud pop was reported nearby.

Police went to investigate the noise about 9:15 p.m. The caller told officers that he saw a black pickup truck traveling through the area when he heard the pop. He also saw a broken glass bottle in the street, police said.

The officers found nothing, but an hour later another caller told police that there was what looked like a bullet hole in the doorframe of a second-floor bedroom.

Lakewood news: Volunteer firefighters have dropped from 150 to 32. So they're on a hiring binge.

A few blocks away, police found and seized an unoccupied black Chevrolet Silverado believed to be involved in the incident.

Lakewood police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said the department believes the loud pop was caused by a gunshot.

Staffordsmith is urging anyone with information to call Lakewood Detective Tyler Bennett at 732-363-0200, Ext. 5405.
