2 killed in head-on crash west of Lamont

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two men died early Saturday in a head-on crash between an SUV and pickup west of Lamont and authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a factor.

California Highway Patrol officers say a Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Silverado collided around 2 a.m. in the area of Buena Vista Boulevard and Adobe Road. The drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, officers say, and a passenger in the Tahoe was taken to Kern Medical with minor injuries.

The names of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office.

According to CHP, the Tahoe was traveling east and the Silverado west when — for reasons that remain under investigation — the crash occurred.
