Aces of Trades: Brent Long likes to help others reach their full potential

LANCASTER − Long on Life owner Brent Long has taken the coaching skills he learned in sports and brought them to the business world as an executive and sales coach.

"About 30 years ago I started Long on Life as a true coaching business before coaching was even known about in the marketplace," Long said. "My background is athletics and football coaching at different levels. And I had been in the sports marketing management world working with professional athletes, amateur athletes, and Olympic athletes doing all their marketing and autographs, speaking engagements, and things like that."

He also helped athletes start businesses and prepare them for life after athletics.

"So I took the whole concept of coaching and parlayed it into the marketplace, believing that the high-performing people get there because they have somebody involved in their life that's helping them cap into their untapped potential, like a coach," Long said. "So I started helping the small to mid-sized business owners, executives, leaders and their sales teams tap into their potential and to become who they were created to be and to grow their organization in such a way they can maximize their ability to serve other people."

He works with his clients on his property that has a house for rent for those who want to use it. Long said people from all over the country come to spend a weekend, a week or a few days.

Long said he is a spiritual man who infuses spirituality into his work.

He also owns Salty Sales Training, which is an online sales training class, and is a Lancaster-Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce board member.

Away from work, Long enjoys working on his property, building things, and fishing. He is into fitness and also preaches at his church at times.
