    Firefighters rescue two dogs from Wednesday night house fire in Lancaster

    LANCASTER — The Lancaster Fire Department responded to a reported fire at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday at 306 Witte St.

    Upon arrival, they found heavy fire conditions at the front of the house. The fire was quickly controlled, the occupants were not home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

    Multiple canines died in the residence; firefighters were able to rescue two from the fire and medics provided supportive care and oxygen. They were both turned over to the owners when they arrived.

    The LFD received mutual aid from neighboring fire departments of Greenfield Township and Pleasant Township. The American Red Cross and Charity Newsies were contacted to aid the family.

    The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is still under investigation.
