Smoke from Lancaster hay bale trailer fire to last ‘days’

LANCASTER, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Smoke is expected to linger for multiple days after a hay bail fire was put out in Lancaster on Friday.

Garrard County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) posted on Facebook that Lancaster City Fire and Rescue (LCFR) was dispatched around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday to the area of Stanford Street and the Go Time 5 gas station in response to a trailer carrying bales that had caught on fire.

Garrard County EMA said that emergency personnel as well as law enforcement in the area came to assist LCFR due to the extreme heat.

The hay bail fire was reportedly contained after several hours.

Emergency personnel said, “The hay will continue to smoke for the next several days but is in a safe, designated area.”
