Swimming Pools in Central Mass
The Department of Conservation and Recreation has multiple pools in Central Mass that also offer free swimming lessons. These pools are a great place to cool off during the summer. They all offer free parking, and the hours of operation for free swimming are 11:15am to 6:45pm. Most of the pools also offer free swim lessons in the morning. The instructors are certified through the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor program. This is the same program that the majority of gyms and YMCAs require of their teachers. When I was in college, I worked at the Clinton State Pool as a guard and teacher. It was a great summer job, and while my daughter is too little to enroll in classes this summer, I know when the time comes I’ll definitely sign her up!
