Kenton Dresbach has a front row seat to history.

The legislative aide to Ohio Sen. Tim Schaffer (R-20) shared with Sunrise Rotary club members at the March 26 meeting how he assists the senator from Lancaster since graduating from Ohio State with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture business, applied economics and political science.

Schaffer’s district is comprised of Fairfield, Guernsey, Hocking, Morgan and Muskingum counties, as well as portions of Pickaway and Athens counties.

Dresbach — a 2017 graduate of Logan Elm High School — said his duties include constituent outreach, communication, policy development and assisting with the day-to-day operations of Schaffer’s office.

“I plan to keep gaining experience about the operations of the Ohio Legislature,” he said.

Dresbach outlined the ways young adults get experience working with the legislature. Full-time college students can begin working as pages for either the Ohio House of Representatives or Ohio Senate. After graduation, they may apply for a 13-month fellowship, or become legislative aides to a particular representative or senator.
