LANCASTER – Dr. Stephen Caracciolo, Artistic Director, and the members of the Board of Directors of LancasterChorale announced that the organization has changed its name to ProArteOHIO Vocal Ensemble to better reflect the organization.

LancasterChorale has evolved significantly under two conductors since its beginning as a volunteer community chorus in Lancaster. Celebrated as the region’s premier all-professional vocal ensemble, the ensemble has established its role as a vital force in choral music by performing challenging repertoire drawn from the rich treasury of the past, programing new works that inspire the American public to thoughtfully explore its present, and supporting educational programming with young singers to promote the future of the choral arts

“Today, as a professional ensemble engaging vocal artists from a three-state region and serving many more communities, we celebrate our roots with gratitude while recognizing we are a different organization since our founding 39 years ago,” said Caracciolo in a news release. “For this reason, we have rebranded our organization to reflect the artistic evolution of the ensemble and to clearly describe to the public the beautiful tone, fine tuning, and poetic elegance that is expected at performances throughout the region.”

The new name, ProArteOHIO, includes the Latin exclamation ‘for art!,’ with ‘pro,’ simultaneously signaling the positive professionalism of the ensemble.

“Seeking to broaden the understanding and enjoyment of the choral art with its rich 500-year treasury of music, we are excited for the future of ProArteOHIO as we engage with the public through diverse and culturally enriching programs performed with stirring beauty and integrity in Columbus, Lancaster, and in communities throughout Ohio,” said Caracciolo.
