Sean Fowler replaces the late Joe Kemmerer as Pleasant Township Trustee

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP − Sean Fowler, will replace the late Joe Kemmerer as a township trustee.

Kemmerer died on July 13 and Fowler said he died of natural causes. Kemmerer had been a trustee for 30 years.

Fowler, 48, is also the Lancaster sanitation department superintendent. He said the remaining trustees, Rayna Moellendick and Jason Miller, asked if he'd be interested in filling Kemmerer's unexpired term that runs until Dec. 31, 2025. Fowler said he plans to run for the seat in the Nov. 4, 2025, election for a full term.

Fowler, a Fairfield Union graduate, previously served as the township's zoning inspector and also served the village council of Pleasantville when he lived there. He also dealt with Pleasantville zoning issues while on village council.

Fowler said there will be a learning curve as he gets into his new position.

"But I'm fortunate that I have a lot of knowledge in the way that government funding and township funds work with my 26 years of experience here with the city (Lancaster)," he said. "I think I have a lot of that to bring to the table. The knowledge that I've gained here, a lot of it directly applies over to that setting also."

Fowler said he also wants to learn what the township needs are and how he can help fulfill them.

Fowler said he has known the Kemmerer family for years.

"Joe was a good guy," he said. "A real quiet and personable guy. Obviously, he had a need to serve and he did that for the township well for 30 years."
