“I just want somebody to adopt me,” says Lamara, a 10-year-old African American girl from Lancaster, Texas , who has spent the majority of her young life in foster care .

Despite this, she maintains a hopeful and vibrant spirit, eagerly awaiting a family to call her own.

For the past seven years, Lamara has navigated life without parents , moving through the foster care system.

Her greatest wish is simple yet profound : to be adopted by a loving family that will provide her with the attention and care she longs for.

Lamara told WFAA that her interests are as bright and varied as her personality. She loves exploring new activities, from shopping and making slime to playing with toys and painting. She also enjoys cooking and watching TV , finding joy in the small pleasures of life.

Her curiosity about the world is evident in her love for learning, particularly in Math and Science , where she is eager to understand phenomena like volcanic eruptions.

Attending the Lancaster Music School , Lamara has discovered a passion for music, allowing her to express herself in new and creative ways.

“I’m fun to play with!” she exclaimed, showcasing her lively and outgoing nature .

As she prepares to start 5th grade, Lamara is excited about being one of the older students and looks forward to diving into her favorite subjects.

She dreams of becoming a Kindergarten Math teacher , choosing the name “Ms. Mahogany” after her middle name, which she finds beautiful.

Kathleen Cain, Lamara’s court-appointed special advocate , speaks highly of the young girl’s ability to make friends easily and remain positive in challenging situations.

“She makes friends so easily. I’ve seen her in so many new schools and new situations and she comes out with a new friend and she sees the positive in everything,” Cain remarked.

For Lamara, the search for a forever family continues, and with her infectious enthusiasm and loving nature, it is hoped that she will soon find a home filled with the love and support she deserves.
