Quail Run apartments standoff ends without injury
CASPER, Wyo. — An armed standoff between local law enforcement and a person at the Quail Run apartments ended peacefully Friday afternoon. The incident began at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when law enforcement responded to a report of a person experiencing suicidal thoughts, according to a release from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office.

New Instagram Filter Designed To Keep Tourists Away From Wildlife
Due to the pervasiveness of social media while vacationing, certain destinations are implementing measures to curb excessive posing for selfies in public spaces. Visit Jackson Hole, the Wyoming city’s travel and tourism board, is joining these efforts. The organization has launched a new Instagram filter to warn visitors about getting too close to wild animals. The “Selfie Control” filter, introduced in August 2024, addresses the growing problem of tourists approaching wildlife for photo opportunities. Such behavior often puts themselves and the animals at risk.
Green River Plans Water Shutoff Friday
GREEN RIVER – Water service on three Green River streets will be shut off Friday to complete a water main connection. Boulder Drive, Evans Drive on the Mansface Canyon side, and Faith Drive from Evans Drive to Evans Drive will have water service shut off from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., though the City of Green River says the actual duration will depend on conditions encountered by the project’s contractor.
Highway 59 north reopening, evacuations still in place, Campbell County Emergency Management says
GILLETTE, Wyo. — In an update on previous orders, all current evacuation and evacuation readiness orders currently in place will remain overnight Thursday. Campbell County Emergency Management has announced that all existing evacuation orders for areas around Gillette will remain in place overnight, the county said in a Facebook post. Based upon fire activity during the day Thursday, all orders to evacuate or to be prepared to do so will remain in place overnight, the post said.
