Wyoming takes a hit by the global Microsoft outage
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Waking up this morning, you may have noticed when trying to boot up your computer, you were met with a blue screen. The issue is believed to have started from a security update from the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which is meant to prevent online hacking. Early Friday morning, a line of new code sent to computers that run Microsoft Windows started to crash, which caused worldwide fallout, including canceled flights around the world, 911 emergency outages, banks, courts, and hospitals have all been disrupted. The global outage has taken no prisoners across the country, which includes the Cowboy state.

She’s also insatiably curious, loves learning and is always ready to meet a new challenge with a pragmatic, can-do, never-quit attitude. Following several years of independent study, apprentice work and a four-month intensive in Billings with Randy Rains of Law Dog Hat Company, Flitner’s own hat shop, Dirty Scotty’s Hats of Ill Repute, opened in downtown Greybull recently, taking over the Mackey’s Custom Hats business.

Cheyenne Frontier Days Unveils Plans For New American Indian Village
Cheyenne Frontier Days Officials unveiled plans for the new Morningstar American Indian Village on Friday. The new village is slated to open in 2026 near the CFD Old West Museum. Renee Middleton, Executive Director of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Foundation, told Townsquare Media the goal is to have the new facility open in time for Frontier Days 2026, which will be the Year of the Native American at CFD. Middleton said the new facility is made possible in large part by a grant from the Hughes Foundation. She added that Frontier Days officials will raise additional money for the village's educational component. Middleton said the total final cost of the village is "still up in the air right now. But I can tell you right now it's already over $10 million."

Energy Conservation Works contracts Melissa Turley as Executive Director
JACKSON, Wyo. — The Energy Conservation Works (ECW) Joint Powers Board approved a contract with Melissa E. Turley, principal of m.e.t. solutions, for executive director services during a special meeting last week. Energy Conservation Works creates equitable access to energy conservation and renewable energy to improve and preserve the quality of life for all residents. It is a partnership between the Town of Jackson, Teton County and Lower Valley Energy, and collaborates with community organizations to develop and implement programs.
Opera Wyoming to perform ‘The Secret Garden’ at The Lyric
CASPER, Wyo. — Opera Wyoming will debut its upcoming production of “The Secret Garden” this month at The Lyric in Casper. According to a release from the company, “The Secret Garden” is based on the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett with lyrics by Marsha Norman and will open on July 19 at The Lyric. The musical score was written by Lucy Simon. There will be seven performances, with the last on July 28.

The Jentel Artist Residency Program offers dedicated individuals a supportive environment in which to further their creative development. Jentel is an anagram of the founder’s name, Neltje. A lover of both Wyoming and art, Neltje’s experience while visiting Wyoming from her native New York in the 1960s, left her inspired and rejuvenated.
