LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– A 41-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the torso after attempting to stop an argument between a couple Monday night.

Elmer Hitt, Director of Police and Fire Services in Jackson County says officers responded to a home on the 300 block of Moorman Dr. Monday night.

Hitt says the investigation revealed there was an argument between a 21-year-old male and female. A third person, identified as a 41-year-old male, approached the younger male, and a physical altercation between the two men ensued.

During that altercation, the older man was stabbed multiple times in the torso, Hitt says. He was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery to treat his wounds. He is in critical, but stable, condition.

Hitt did not provide any further details about the cause of either the argument between the man and woman or the two men.

Hitt says the 21-year-old suspect was arrested and lodged at the Jackson County jail.
