WATERTOWN TWP. — Royal Scot Golf & Bowl has installed a 5,600-square-foot digital screen at the end of its 60 bowling lanes, "making it the biggest LED screen in a bowling center on the planet," company officials said in a release.

Royal Scot Golf & Bowl, 4722 W. Grand River Ave., announced the new screen, 8.4 feet high and 334.5 feet long, on Wednesday, saying the screen was bought from a Belgian company, Bowling Media, that specializes in designing and installing innovative LED screens in bowling alleys.

Bowling Media previously laid claim to being part of "the largest LED screen for bowling in the world" installed at McHenry Bowl in Modesto, California.

"Upon installation, Lansing will become the home of the largest LED screen in a Bowling Center worldwide, surpassing the record previously held by McHenry Bowl in Modesto, California since late 2022," Royal Scot said in its release.

Replacing the old masking units, or graphic panels, Royal Scot's new screen can stream concerts, display ads for local businesses and be used to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries.

Customers are excited about the new screen, said Director of Operations, Amy Densteadt. The screen will enhance the fun atmosphere, but for tournaments the screen's brightness will be dimmed and will display a static image to reduce any glare for league bowlers.

Playing for team three of the senior league, Tom Colosimo, likes the new LED screen, he added that he averages 120 points per games and simply plays for fun.

Royal Scot is a Lansing landmark, offering a variety of experiences from bowling to golfing to hosting special events like graduation parties. It's also one of two footgolf courses in the United States.

It is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
