LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The owner of a children’s learning center in Lansing has pled guilty to multiple counts of Medicaid fraud, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Tuesday.
Kaila Oman, 37, of Galesburg, owned the mental health service Mosaic Learning Center, which has locations in Lansing, Coldwater, and Galesburg. These clinics provide learning center services to children with developmental disabilities and emotional disturbances.
An investigation conducted by the Attorney General found that Oman billed Medicaid for services that were never provided—including billing during a time when the Coldwater clinic was closed for business.
Oman was arraigned in the 54B District Court in East Lansing on Monday on two counts of Medicaid Fraud – False Claim, which are each punishable by up to four years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine. She pled guilty as charged.
Oman’s case will be transferred to the 30th Circuit Court in Ingham County for sentencing. No date has been set at this time.
Oman currently remains free on bond.
