Facts About Stuart Whitman
When I hear Stuart Whitman’s name, two of his projects came to mind. First, The Comancheros, one of John Wayne’s better westerns, and least in my opinion. Then, there was a TV series, Cimmaron Strip. Cimaron Strip was a good, though not great TV western. Which is a shame, because it had some elements that could have made it great, including Whitman himself.
Opinion: My Top 15 Comedians
Your list is no doubt different. Comedy is a subjective thing. Some of you have been subjected to mine for some months now. I believe that who we think is funny gives some insight into our personality. I decided to do my top15 favorite comedians. And then get professional help.
Opinion: A Look at Travis Kelce's Super Bowl
The Super Bowl wasn’t his finest hour. Statistically, Travis Kelce had a good Super Bowl, catching 9 passes for 93 yards. That’s fairly impressive, but despite that, his image took a hit. His bumping into Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid is a lasting image for many Super Bowl viewers.
Facts About the TV Show "Maverick"
It was one of the best of the TV westerns. Of all the old TV westerns I’ve seen, Maverick was one that I really would like to see more of. I’ve seen enough to be impressed by the show, but the next time I have time to binge watch a program, Maverick will be one of the possibilities. Of course, Brett Maverick, played by James Garner was the most notable Maverick, though the Maverick family in general was formidable.
Opinion: 10 Thoughts About the Super Bowl
Some things go beyond the game. I don’t gamble, but if I did, I wouldn’t bet against Patrick Mahomes. Last night was another example of why that’s a good policy. The Chiefs rode Patrick Mahomes to another Super Bowl win. Mahomes was aided and abetted by the greatest TE in football history as well as possibly greatest coach the NFL has ever seen.
Facts About Tim Conway
He was amazing on The Carol Burnett Show. The Carol Burnett Show was one of the best sketch comedy shows of all time. And Tim Conway was a big part of that. His Old Man and Mr. Tudball characters were two of the best parts of that show. While the cast as a whole was great in sketches, almost invariably the best sketches were ones that featured Tim Conway.
Satire: Typhoid Mary Would Be a Hero Today
She insisted on her freedom, not matter who it killed. During the Covid pandemic, we heard a lot about spreader events. In retrospect, I’m surprised we didn’t hear more historical reference to Typhoid Mary. When I was in school, I heard brief references to her but didn’t get the full impact of her story.
Satire: Hints for Seniors to Help Them Get Through the Day
Some days require more help than others. While I’m not a spring chicken myself, in the last few years I’ve helped out with my mother’s care. As you might suspect, my mother is even older than me. While I’m dealing with my own aging issues, working with my mother gave me a glimpse into the future. I can’t say I’m thrilled by the prospect.
Facts About Woody Strode
He was a remarkable athlete and actor. I haven’t seen Woody Strode in a lot of movies, but when I have, he made an impression. One of the westerns where he made an impression was, The Professionals. More about that later. In addition, he was great as John Wayne’s hired hand in, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.
Facts About George Lindsey
He did, perhaps the worst imitation of Cary Grant in history. The town of Mayberry had some solid citizens residing in it. Included among that citizenry was gas station attendant, Goober Pyle. Goober was ably played by George Lindsey. Goober and his cousin, Gomer, actually appeared together on only one episode of The Andy Griffith show. It was the classic Fun Girls episode, and Goober broke out his Cary Grant impression.
Opinion: Cody Bellinger Fatigue is Starting to Set in
But the Cubs do need to do something. Another day, another lack of a signing of the Boras Four. And to some degree, I find myself caring less about the Cubs resigning Cody Bellinger. I still think Bellinger would be the best fit for the Cubs right now, but I wouldn’t be that upset if the Cubs searched elsewhere for help.
Opinion: Things to Look for in a Retirement Location
Two years ago, my wife and I moved back to Tecumseh, OK. from Largo Florida. Generally speaking, Florida is considered the premier retirement destination, but we chose to come back to Oklahoma. A number of factors were involved.
Yesterday's Heroes Sports Quiz 7

Satire: Never Look Down Your Nose at A Nudist and Other Rules to Live By
These rules can change your life. (Not necessarily for the better.) I’ve lived a fairly long time now. Over the years, I learned a lot. Most of which I've forgotten. But there are some core ideas that have remained with me. Out of courtesy to my fellow man, I’ll share these. It would also be nice if they make a buck for me. So, here are some rules to live by:
Bears Draft Could be as Easy as 1,2,3
It could be the most dynamic draft in NFL history. Just when I had talked myself into the idea of the Bears trading Justin Fields and drafting Caleb Williams, the NFL landscape changes. Rumblings from Colin Cowherd’s show indicated that the Caleb Williams camp wasn’t thrilled about the idea of Caleb going to the Bears. The next day, Cowherd walked that idea back a bit, but the seed was planted.
Would a New Stadium Sanitize Jerry Reinsdorf's Legacy?
After some chatter about Jerry Reinsdorf moving the White Sox to Memphis, it seems the team has pivoted to building a new stadium in the South Loop area of Chicago. The 62-acre site at Roosevelt and Clark is called The 78. Depending on the configuration of the stadium, fans could have a view of the Chicago Skyline. And that doesn’t mean squat if Sox ownership doesn’t invest more in the on the field product. Jerry Reinsdorf’s reluctance to invest in on field talent recently was recently brought into sharper focus.
We're Paying for Stuff We Don't Need
And it's getting harder to do anything about it. Years ago, I remember a TV ad for a big pickup that said they were catering to the 1% of truck owners that were hard to please. The ad went on to state the truck had certain capabilities that only 1% of buyers would use. The company also indicated they catered to the hard to please customer.
Facts About Kenny Rogers
In addition to singing, he did pretty good acting. There are a lot of layers to Kenny Rogers’ career. There was his time with The First Edition, his time singing with Dolly Parton and his time playing Brady Hawkes. And I enjoyed all three of those aspects of his career.
