Taxpayers are encouraged to take advantage of this year's tax-free weekend, which runs from Friday, August 9 through Sunday, August 11.The video above is from ABC13's 24/7 livestream.During this special weekend, most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks under $100 can be bought without paying sales tax.Items must be purchased from an in-person or online Texas store, or a catalog seller doing business in Texas.In most cases, you do not need to give the seller an exemption certificate to buy qualifying items tax-free. Roads back open after fire truck crash caused major traffic backups in Dallas
DALLAS — Four Dallas firefighters were injured after a fire truck drove off Interstate 345 onto DART Tracks below the roadway, officials said. The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 345 and South Good Latimer Expressway, officials said in a release. Four members of Dallas Fire-Rescue were transported from the scene to Baylor University Medical Center, officials said. All four firefighters are in stable condition, officials said.

Motorcycle rider killed in Dallas crash; two people charged
On July 19, 2024 at about 8:45 PM, Dallas Fire Rescue and Police responded to an accident call at Southwell Road and Harry Hines Boulevard. The preliminary investigation determined a motorcycle occupied by two individuals was traveling northbound on Harry Hines Boulevard. A 20-year-old man was driving a truck southbound on Harry Hines Boulevard when he turned left on Southwell Road and crashed into the motorcycle.
