6 dogs found dead inside U-Haul truck

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Numerous animals were found dead inside of a U-Haul van sitting in a northwest valley parking lot on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were first alerted to the situation when a call came in just after 3pm about a barking dog inside of the sealed truck parked near Cheyenne and Tenaya in the Mountain View Hospital parking lot. When Metro arrived and opened the van they discovered multiple animals dead inside.

Six other dogs and three cats found in an SUV near that van were seized and are said to be doing okay.

Las Vegas was under an Excessive Heat Warning on Tuesday, with temperatures around 110 at the time of the sad discovery

Both Metro Police and Animal Cruelty are investigating the incident. One person, identified as 53-year-old Christopher Winter was arrested. Winter faces 6 counts of animal abuse and one count related to drugs.

During a Wednesday court appearance, Winter's bail was set at $50,000. Winter was also ordered to not own any animals while the case progressed.
