Kevin Durant Receives Crucial Injury Update For Team USA

Team USA's men's basketball team has kicked off training camp in Las Vegas for the 2024 Paris Olympics. On Wednesday, July 10, they will take part in their first exhibition game at the USA Basketball Showcase against Canada. But, Team USA could be without one of their key players.

On Sunday afternoon, The Athletic's NBA Insider Shams Charania reported that Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant will be sidelined to start training camp with a "minor calf strain."

Durant has already missed the first two days of camp and will likely miss a few more. Although the injury isn't expected to be serious, Team USA could hold out Durant against Canada as a precaution.

Durant has won three gold medals with Team USA in the Olympics, including the 2012 London Olympics, 2016 Rio de Janeiro, and 2020 Tokyo. The former Texas Longhorns star is also the highest-scoring Team USA player ever, with 435 points.

Durant will be joined by his Suns teammate, Devin Booker, in this year's Olympics and his former Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry.

In the 2023-24 NBA season, Durant averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists. The Suns went into the season with high expectations but fell way short of achieving their championship goals.
