It was suspected that things were bad in Las Vegas when the Raiders benched quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo six games into the season — a move we now know star receiver Davante Adams signed off on.
But fans likely didn’t know just how bad things were between Adams and Garoppolo until the most recent episode of the Netflix docuseries “Receiver,” in which a few clips displayed just how toxic things were between QB and WR behind the scenes.
“I’ve got to get the f--- out of here before I lose my f----- life,” Adams said in one clip. “I ain't never been hit this many f----- times in my career, every game I get f----- up.”
“If it don’t look right and I ain’t getting opportunities, then now we’ve got a problem,” Adams said in another clip. “They gave me a lot of money to come here and score touchdowns and get first downs, and if I’m not getting the proper opportunities and it looks like dog s--- on offense, it’s time to do something about it.”

Adams’ frustration with Garoppolo was justified.
Of the 26 times he was targeted on deep passes (more than 20 yards), he logged just four receptions because 60% of the throws that came his way were off-target, per Sharp Football Analysis — more than any WR in the league.
Not to mention Adams’ numbers were far better without Aidan O’Connell and Brian Hoyer under center (122 targets, 71 receptions, 737 yards, five touchdowns) than they were when Garoppolo was (53 targets, 32 receptions, 407 yards, three touchdowns.)
