LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Big changes are on the horizon for The Neon Museum as it announced relocation and expansion plans on Wednesday.
The museum will relocate to the downtown Las Vegas Arts District and nearly triple the size of its current location.
The Neon Museum which is currently located on Las Vegas Boulevard near Bonanza Road. A site they have vastly outgrown with only about 30% of their current signs on display in the boneyard.
The Neon Museum’s executive director discussed in more detail about the plans on Thursday.
“We had 200,000 visitors that came through last year and we turned away 30,000,” explained Executive Director for The Neon Museum, Aaron Berger. “There’s about 275 signs that are on display that only represents about 30-35% of our collection.”
The museum will conduct due diligence on two sites with the first being a 60,000-square-foot outdoor display space and 47,000 square feet for an indoor area on the 9th and 10th floors of a proposed parking garage and a second location nearby with 35,000 square feet of programmable space.
The new site will be located on top of a 10-story parking garage at Boulder Avenue and Art Way in the Arts District just north of Charleston Boulevard. It would triple the size of their current location.
The Neon Museum started fundraising efforts for its new site on July 18 and it hopes to open the new facility in 2027. The museum will also announce a second new location in the next few months.

In the meantime, the museum is working to get some new signs from the recent closures of the Tropicana and The Mirage.
“I feel very very confident that we are going to see some things come out of The Mirage as well,” Berger explained.
