A'ja Wilson Delivers Blunt Outlook on the Caitlin Clark Effect

Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson is unquestionably the best women's basketball player in the world right now.

The two-time defending WNBA Champion is a massive frontrunner to win the WNBA MVP award this year, and is on pace to finish her career as one of the greatest to ever do it.

Yet, even an icon like Wilson can't escape questions about Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

Wilson was featured in a Marie Claire article that was released on July 17. Among the topics discussed was the "Caitlin Clark Effect", which is another way of stating the needle-moving impact on the sport that Clark has brought.

And Wilson made her feelings about it very clear.

"I felt like I was mentally tired in that whole whirlwind of people constantly saying, ‘A’ja you’re only known because of Caitlin; we’re only here because of Caitlin'," Wilson said in the interview.

"And that’s great, I get that, but while you’re here I’m not going to let you discredit me or the work that I’ve done, or my teammates or the people who came before have done."

While Wilson didn't show Clark and disrespect, she's clearly getting tired of all the having to talk about her all the time.
