LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) —  Four people were injured and 16 people were displaced from their homes after a fire at an apartment building in central Las Vegas late Sunday evening.

“Just flames and dark smoke consuming the neighborhood. “It gives me chills, I feel for the families affected,” Melanie Hanson said as she watched the blaze.

Just before 7:45 p.m., fire crews responded to 3937 Spencer Street, the Riverbend Village Apartments, after a report of a structure fire. First responders found the blaze affecting multiple apartments in the complex.

Alicia Garcia fled her apartment with just the clothes she was wearing.

“Now everything is lost. I left my money in there, my purse, my keys for the car.”
