Unheralded Las Vegas Raiders rookie continues to be the talk of training camp

The Las Vegas Raiders ' running backs room will look a lot different in 2024, as the team lost Josh Jacobs in free agency and acquired some young and veteran talent through free agency and the draft. One of the new faces in the position group is rookie Dylan Laube, who was drafted in the sixth round out of New Hampshire.

Laube had an illustrious collegiate career with the Wildcats, displaying his elite versatility and explosiveness. The 24-year-old averaged over four yards per carry in every season of his career with New Hampshire and dazzled in the receiving and return game.

Laube's skillset has flashed with the Raiders, both during the offseason program and in training camp — and so much so that he is making a case for playing time in his first year.

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said this about the rookie back on Monday when asked about Laube earning a role early on:

"I hope so. He is off to a great start," Getsy said. "He has a great feel for it, and he doesn't have the errors as far as what his responsibilities are. That's really cool to see from such a young guy."

Vic Tafur of The Athletic also stated that Laube is "making an early case playing time."

Getsy hasn't been the only Raiders coach to heap praise on Laube since training camp began, as head coach Antonio Pierce called the rookie "special."

"That dude is special. I like him," Pierce said of Laube, per Levi Edwards of Raiders.com . "And he's gritty. He's a gritty (running back). One thing — he surprises you with his speed. … He's going to be a difficult matchup, and it's already showing up in practice."

Laube's ability to return kicks and contribute on special teams should land him a roster spot, but if the No. 209 overall pick continues to impress Getsy and the Raiders' coaching staff, he could be in store for a sizeable role on offense.

Laube's versatility and excellence in the receiving game would perfectly complement Zamir White's downhill running style.
