Davante Adams shares what his reaction was to Raiders parting with Derek Carr

On top of growing up a Raiders fan, one of the draws for wide receiver Davante Adams when it came to going to Las Vegas was the opportunity to play with his former college teammate and quarterback, Derek Carr.

However, that reunion ended after just one season after the Raiders released Carr following the 2022 campaign, leading to the veteran signal-caller signing with the New Orleans Saints in 2023.

Adams was a guest on "Club Shay Shay" with Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe and revealed he wasn't to happy about the Raiders' decision to part with Carr.

"I don't know if I would have made the move (to Las Vegas) had it not been for (Carr) under center when I got there," Adams said. "When they got rid of him, I was not happy about that at all.

"But just based off the business and knowing how, at that point, I was going into Year 10 once they got rid of him, so, I'm thinking about it and I'm like 'Man, this isn't the first and it definitely won't be the last person that means a lot to me and my career that I'm not going to be able to be around,' so you've got to roll with the punches and figure it out.

"And I'm not really in the business of jumping around, trying to skate around the states trying to find a home. We got a great team and great potential to be a great team. So really, for me, it was easy to say, 'I'm going to stick here and try to figure it out with these guys.'"

As many issues as Carr had with the Raiders, there was a noticeable drop-off in play under center in 2023, as the team struggled with Jimmy Garoppolo before turning things over to a rookie in Aidan O'Connell.

And Adams certainly felt that transition, as he went from tallying 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns with Carr to just 1,144 yards and eight scores with a combo of Jimmy G and O'Connell.

Las Vegas has since parted with Garoppolo and have brought in Gardner Minshew to compete with O'Connell for the starting quarterback job.

The hope is that either one can elevate this offense more than Jimmy G and the rookie version of O'Connell were able to. If one can accomplish that feat, the Raiders have enough talent on both sides of the ball to be a playoff team.
