Las Vegas Raiders putting an 'emphasis' on key aspect ahead of the 2024 season

Training camp is one of the more important times of the entire NFL season. It's really the first time of the season when we see intense practices and scrimmages happen, and it's a good time for teams to shake the rust off from a long off-season.

The Las Vegas Raiders have a lot of things they need to figure out, ranging from the quarterback position , to questions regarding the offensive line and defensive backs as well.

However, with all those priorities, Las Vegas is making sure they take their time to focus on special teams as well, as head coach Antonio Pierce mentioned during a recent interview from camp:

“Yeah, I’m not doing demonstrations like Coach McMahon, but I really wanted to put an emphasis on that. First of all, we have some really good specialists. Between AJ [Cole] and Daniel [Carlson], I mean we couldn’t be more blessed to have those two difference makers there.”

First, Pierce mentions the team's two specialists, Daniel Carlson and A.J. Cole. He's right about them being good, as those two have each been among the top of the league statistically in their own rights.

Pierce also mentions how the team is preparing for the NFL's new kickoff rule, which will change that aspect of the game tremendously:

"But obviously, with the new rule, right, it’s a learning curve for all of us. We had the officials out here from the National Football League and they were wide-eyed, because nobody’s seen this live yet. It looks good in practice, but that first preseason game, I think everybody needs to tune in for the opening kickoff to see what’s about to happen, because there’s a lot of different variables that could go into it, how it’s been officiated, what different special teams coordinators are coming up with ideas. So, I really wanted to emphasize it."

This aspect of the game will be interesting to see play out in 2024, but it's good to understand that the Raiders are taking their time to prepare themselves.
