LaSALLE TWP. — Two Ohio men were arrested early Sunday after leading police on a pursuit into Michigan.

Monroe County sheriff 's deputies also recovered a gun that officers saw the passenger throw from the fleeing vehicle, Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported in a news release.

The incident happened at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, the release said. Monroe County Central Dispatch received information that the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Washington Township Police Department were pursuing a stolen vehicle northbound on Interstate 75 entering Monroe County. The Ohio agencies pursued the vehicle, a 2017 white Toyota Corolla, through Erie Township and into LaSalle Township. Officers were able to disable the vehicle by deploying tire-deflating devices, ending the pursuit in the area of South Telegraph Road and Third Street in LaSalle Township.

Monroe County Deputies Jacob Laboe and Austin Graham arrived at the scene and assisted with taking the driver, a 23-year-old man, and passenger, an 18-year-old male, both from Toledo, into custody, the release said.

Both suspects were lodged at the Monroe County Jail on charges of fleeing police and receiving and concealing stolen property. Their identities were withheld pending arraignment in 1st District Court in Monroe. Additional charges are being filed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, pending extradition.

This incident remains under investigation by Laboe. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7568.
