Chicago to issue one time $500 relief payments to eligible residents

The payment will be given out to eligible residents through the Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0.

There's another relief payment coming, and if you're one of the few who wasn't lucky with the others, the Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 might be your chance. If you're a Chicago resident with tax dependents living in your household during the pandemic, you're eligible to be one of the 25,500 people to receive a one-time payment of $500.

According to the website, The Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 is a $14.68 million commitment from Mayor Lightfoot and the Department of Family and Support Services intending to support residents who had difficulty accessing and qualifying for federal relief payments in 2020, including COVID-19 Relief Funds.

Fund Overview:

• 25,500 eligible residents will receive a one-time payment of $500. 
• Residents must submit an online application to be considered for the fund. Recipients will be selected by lottery and must submit proof of eligibility.

Who's eligible?

• You reside in the City of Chicago AND
• You are 18 years of age or older AND
• Your household income level falls at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level AND
• You meet one of the following:
• You filed taxes in 2019 AND claimed a dependent 17 years or older*
• OR you are an undocumented resident
• OR you are a domestic worker

Heartland Human Care Services is the official program administrator for the fund.

Can more than one individual in the same household apply?

No, only one applicant per household can apply.

When do applications close?

The interest form will be open until Dec. 9 at 5:00 pm.
