Burn Ban Issued For North Central Idaho
A Stage 1 burn ban has been placed on North Central Idaho. State authorities are banning burning and most campfires in the Grangeville Fire Restriction Area which includes Latah County locally. Campfires are still allowed at designated recreation sites. The burn ban goes into effect Saturday.
Four structures claimed in Texas Fire
KENDRICK — Four structures and more than 1,300 acres have been burned by the Texas Fire, which continues to be active northeast of Kendrick in Latah County. Certain areas were put on a Level 3 evacuation, which means leave right now, while some spots, including the city of Kendrick, were in Level 2 (be ready to leave at a moment’s notice), and other areas were in Level 1 (be ready).
Disaster relief 'heats up' for American Red Cross as wildfire season starts early

The Bench Lake Fire outside Stanley, according to the forest service, has burned nearly 1300 acres near Redfish Lake. None of it is contained.
Wildfire East Of Kendrick At 1,200 Acres
The wildfire that’s forced evacuations East of Kendrick has burned 1,200 acres. The Texas Ridge Fire started around 4:00 on Monday afternoon and is burning in the canyons and on Texas and Cedar Ridges in Southeastern Latah County. Evacuation orders remain in effect from the Latah County Sheriff’s Office. Several roads in the area are closed.
Lewiston Roundup taking animals in need of refuge from Texas Fire
LEWISTON, Idaho - Lewiston Roundup is providing temporary housing for animals affected by the Texas Fire in Latah County. They posted on Facebook that owners can bring their animals that need a safe place to stay. Owners are responsible for identifying their animals by using photos of them and providing contact information.
