Honoring a Legacy: Aug. 2 proclaimed Don Laughlin Day
Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo named Aug. 2 Don Laughlin Day, in honor of the man who opened the Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino on the same day in 1966. Initially, it had eight motel rooms, 12 slot machines, two table games and “all-you-can-eat” chicken dinners for 98 cents.
Moore named Chief of the Year
BULLHEAD CITY – Bullhead City Fire Chief Patrick Moore was named Fire Chief of the Year by the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association during the July 16 leadership conference in Glendale. Moore began his career in the fire service with the former Hualapai Valley Fire Department (Northern Arizona Fire District) in north Kingman in 1992. Moore has served as Chief in Bullhead City for a little more than six years.
Bullhead City announces open soccer, softball fields
BULLHEAD CITY –The City of Bullhead City is excitedly announcing the launch of open fields at Rotary Park and Ken Fovargue Park. As of July 16, a section of Soccer fields at Rotary Park, located at 2315 Balboa Dr, and a softball field at Ken Fovargue Park, located at 2255 Trane Rd, will be open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday night from sunset to 10 p.m. The open fields will provide a designated space and time for families and individuals without team or league affiliation to enjoy the fields.
Contractor hits Bullhead City water main, causing disruption
BULLHEAD CITY — Water service disruption may be felt throughout parts of Bullhead City while repairs are made on a water main on Sierra Vista Drive. According to a statement made Thursday afternoon, a contractor hit an eight-inch water main in the 1600 block of Sierra Vista Drive. The extent of damage and customers impacted were not immediately known.
