LAURINBURG —The Scotland County Board of Commissioners had a sendoff Monday to its clerk of five years, Jason Robinson.

Before their regular business meeting, a going away reception was held for Robinson. Chairman Tim Ivey then presented the former clerk who had also been serving as a public information officer, with a plaque recognizing him for his years of dedication to service to the board.

“He’s moving up in the world to take a town manager position … believe me when I say we hate to see that, we’re glad to see that for him,” Ivey said.

Ivey said Robinson started in his position shortly after he joined the Board of Commissioners.

“You know, a lot of people say ‘Clerk to the board, that’s one night a month or maybe two if we have a special meeting,’ but believe me he gets all the stuff that the seven of us can come up with,” Ivey said.

Robinson said Monday he would be administered the Oath of Office as town manager of the Town of Chadbourn on Tuesday, but he will remain living in Laurinburg.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. It was a very hard decision cause the part that I will miss the most are the people,” Robinson said. “They make Scotland County great.”
