LAURINBURG, N.C. (WBTW) — A Laurinburg man was in stable condition Thursday afternoon after he was shot in the head while in his vehicle, police said.

Laurinburg police responded at about 1:50 p.m. to the 400 block of Midland Way after getting a report that someone had been shot. While en route, dispatchers notified them about a report of a shooting in the area of Maple and Hickory streets.

When officers got to Midland Way, they talked to the man, who told them he had been in the area of Biggs and Maple streets when a bullet came through the front passenger side window of his vehicle. The man was taken to an out-of-town medical facility in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made, but police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect, who appeared to be wearing a black t-shirt, acid-washed blue jeans and white shoes.
