    Georgette Albert (Harris County Jail).

A Texas mother is facing charges after she allegedly locked her 12-year-old daughter out of their apartment, forcing the girl to sleep on a bench within the complex.

The girl went to a Houston Police Department substation to report the incident shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday. She told officers her mother kicked her out of the apartment Saturday after they had an argument about one of her friends coming inside to hang out, per police. The girl tried to get back inside several times but her mother refused to unlock the door, according to cops. The child ended up sleeping on a bench at the apartment complex before waking up in the morning and going to the police substation.

Cops went to the apartment complex at 7600 E. Houston Road to investigate. They found the girl’s mother, Georgette Albert, 45, and interviewed her. She claimed the girl had run away. After determining that wasn’t true, cops arrested her Monday on a charge of endangering a child.

Police contacted Child Protective Services who took custody of the girl and released her to a family member.

Albert went to the Harris County Jail where she has since posted a $5,000 bond. Her financial affidavit says she is a part-time teacher in the Houston Independent School District. It said she had worked there for about a year. She’s originally from Louisiana, documents said. The school system told Law&Crime in an email that Albert is not a full-time teacher but is a contract employee who works part-time for the district and it was working on terminating that contract.

According to her Facebook page, Albert is a singer/songwriter who goes by the moniker Gette Blaque. She has a court date scheduled for Oct. 15.
