In his illustrious career as a law enforcement officer, Jim served with distinction in both the Mount Clements and City of Marysville Police Departments, situated in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. As a dedicated street cop, he confronted the darkest aspects of human behavior, relentlessly combating crime across all spectrums, including the investigation of harrowing murders and heinous sex crimes. Two particular cases stand out in Jim's memory – one involving a chilling patricide and the other unfolding into a complex human trafficking investigation.

Jim's years of experience and insights from his service culminated in the publication of his book, "Echoes in Eternity: Street Cop Stories."

In a grim incident, a man was accused of bludgeoning his father to death with a golf club in Marysville, sending shockwaves through the community. The Marysville Police Department swiftly responded to the distressing scene. Upon arrival, they engaged in a dialogue with the individual who had reported the incident to dispatch. Coordinating their actions with precision, the officers took the person into custody. Inside the residence, they discovered the lifeless body of the victim, and initial observations strongly indicated foul play.

The suspect, identified as the victim's own son, ultimately pleaded guilty to the heinous act. Subsequently, a plea hearing and a trial date were scheduled for this somber case.

The killer made a brief appearance in court. The plea hearing was set for another date. If convicted, he could face a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Significantly, an insanity defense had been filed by the killer's lawyer, as documented in court records.

The tragic events unfolded on the morning of June 12th when Marysville police responded to a distress call at the residence shared by the killer and his father. It was here that they discovered the deceased elder, and his son was apprehended. Shockingly, the killer appeared to offer a full confession during a 911 call and a subsequent interview. Investigators determined that the victim had succumbed to blunt force trauma, necessitating the intervention of a medical examiner to formally identify him.

Jim Disser states that the murder weapon was a putter from the victim's golf bag. The victim left behind a grieving family, including sons, seven grandchildren, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, but was preceded in death by his daughter.

In addition to the harrowing murder case, Jim delves into the intricate world of sex crime investigations in his book. One such investigation led to the revelation of a clandestine human trafficking operation, ultimately resulting in significant arrests.
