    KU’s Goff calls 2024 football season a ‘no-lose’ situation

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KSNT) – If the University of Kansas’ football team can reach a bowl game in the 2024 season, it will mark the first time in program history that the Jayhawks have played in the postseason for three straight seasons.

That’s the kind of context the KU Athletic Director Travis Goff has to remind himself when he thinks about the possibilities of the football team this fall.

Win every game, or lose every game, the $300 million renovation to David Booth Memorial Stadium and the “Gateway District” will be complete.

“Regardless of what happens this fall, [the football team has] already done their part, then some, to get to do a project like this,” Goff said.

“To give us a chance to reset the culture around football for KU,” Goff said.

With former Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year quarterback Jalon Daniels, the nation’s returning career rushing yards leader Devin Neal, three top-end wide receivers and two preseason all-conference defensive backs, expectations are high.

Goff has to remind himself to keep it all in perspective, though.

“So much has been achieved that the fall is going to be the fall, and we all expect great things,” Goff said. “The reality is, it’s a win-win, no-lose proposition as far as we can gather.”

The Jayhawk AD added that all of the construction within Kansas Athletics is “on-budget” and “on-schedule.”

Kansas starts the 2024 football campaign hosting Lindenwood at Children’s Mercy Park, home of Sporting KC, in Kansas City on Aug. 29, 2024.
