NEWBERRY, Mich. (WLUC)—American Legion bikers from the U.P. and Michigan’s Lower Peninsula stopped at Newberry on Saturday as part of the From Hell to Paradise Ride. The goal is to raise awareness of PTSD in first responders and veterans. About 500 riders met for lunch at Newberry’s American Legion. Event organizer Scott Igo said the trip perfectly represents PTSD.
Five Michigan universities to provide stipends for social work students

Road to close for water main work at new hotel coming near Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI -- Traffic near I-94 in Comstock Township will be detoured for infrastructure work to coincide with construction of a new hotel. Midlink Drive and Old Cork Street will be closed from Monday, July 29, to Aug. 12, in the area of Center Park Plaza for water main work in the street, connecting to the new Hilton Home2 Suites and Tru hotel at 5185 E.
