LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Members of the Lawrence County community are mourning the sudden loss of one of their own.

Deputy Anthony Cutcher died after he was involved in a motorcycle crash while off-duty on Wednesday, July 3, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office released a statement Wednesday evening , saying, in part, “It’s with heavy hearts and deepest sympathies that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Cutcher…The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is asking for prayers for friends and family during this time.”

In remembrance of Cutcher, Lawrence County law enforcement and first responders drove through Lawrenceburg , honoring his service.

One civil processer who lives nearby said he would describe the community as tight-knit.

“As big as Lawrence County is, and as much as it’s grown, a lot of people still know everybody,” said Bryan Fusilier with Middle Tennessee Civil Process.

Fusilier explained that a sudden loss like this is bound to affect many in the area.

“No matter where we come from, in this particular line of work, we’re all family, and it’s never easy to lose a family member,” Fusilier expressed.

“My heart goes out to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the community there,” he added. “It’s going to be a long, long road to recovery and healing, but I definitely wish the best for them.”

Since the sheriff’s office posted about the loss of its deputy, the post has received just over 300 comments and been shared more than 900 times.

The Saint Joseph Police Department was one of many that shared the post, saying, “Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Investigator Anthony Cutcher. Investigator Cutcher previously worked part time as a patrolman protecting the citizens of Saint Joseph. He was always hard working and professional in all aspects of his duties. He will be forever missed and hold a spot in all of our hearts. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers throughout the coming days.”

Some Facebook users recalled moments of friendship.

“You know those friends you have that you don’t make time to talk to every day or every month for that matter, yet when you see them on the street, they don’t just go for a head nod, wave or a handshake, no, you lock eyes, all but run to each other, and they bring it in for the real thing, a full-on double arm bro embrace…that’s what this man does,” one person said.

Another one described Cutcher’s commitment to service: “You really did a lot of great work…putting your life on the line in service to make this country a much better place. The impact you’ve had hasn’t gone unnoticed. Lawrence County has really lost a good one.”

No additional details have been released about the circumstances surrounding the crash. However, officials told News 2 Cutcher’s body is set to be escorted from the State Medical Examiner’s Office to the funeral home on Thursday, July 4.
