The Pittsburgh Steelers Will Trade Russell Wilson to the Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings saw their star rookie quarterback, JJ McCarthy, undergo meniscus surgery on Wednesday. This procedure will force McCarthy to miss the entire 2024 season. McCarthy, who had been competing with Sam Darnold during training camp, showed a lot of promise early in camp and the preseason. Even if Darnold were to start in Week 1, it seemed likely that McCarthy would eventually take over. However, with McCarthy sidelined, Darnold now has another opportunity to revitalize his career. Initially, Darnold was signed as an insurance policy, with the Vikings fully aware they would draft a quarterback in the first round. What they couldn’t have predicted was that their top pick would be unable to play in a single meaningful game this season.
