Le Sueur man accused of receiving large amounts of marijuana in the mail

A Le Sueur man is accused of illegally having more than two pounds of cannabis flower delivered to his residence.

Malique Andrew Conway, 18, is charged with felony possession of cannabis in the first degree, misdemeanor possession of cannabis in the third degree and two petty misdemeanors for use of cannabis under the age of 21.

According to the charges, the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force was contacted by the Airport Police Department in Minneapolis on April 19, which was conducting an investigation on a criminal organization shipping controlled substances through the US Postal Service.

The Airport Police flagged several senders as part of their investigation learned that one of those senders was shipping a 21-pound package to a residence in Le Sueur.

Agents went to the UPS warehouse in North Mankato where the package was being held and obtained a search warrant to open it. Inside were 10 gold-colored tin cans. Seven of the cans contained a pound of raw marijuana heat-sealed in clear plastic and labeled with different strands and flavors. The remaining three cans contained approximately 100 grams of THC concentrate cartridges.

Law enforcement conducted a controlled delivery to the residence to identify the recipient, bringing three pounds of suspected marijuana flower and 16 THC cartridges in the original box to the front door.

A 17-year-old juvenile answered the door and the undercover officer asked him if he was Anthony Wilson — the name the package was addressed to. The teen responded that he was and took the box inside.

Law enforcement then obtained a search warrant and located Conway, the juvenile and another 18-year-old male in the residence. In the second floor bedroom, agents discovered approximately a half pound of marijuana in open heat-sealed plastic baggies along with a digital scale and empty THC cartridges in the bedroom belonging to the 17-year-old.

According to the complaint, Conway told law enforcement that the box containing the marijuana products was his and that he paid approximately $5,000-$6,000 for them. He further said that he uses it and does not sell it.
