Deadwood's 102nd Days of '76 celebration begins with steer roping
DEADWOOD, S.D. - Deadwood’s Days of ’76 week started strong on Saturday, July 21 with an exhilarating steer roping competition. The Days of ‘76 is one of the premiere rodeos in the Black Hills and has been named PRCA Rodeo of the Year 19 times. Interestingly, the event is put on entirely by volunteers.

Friday, July 19 was the second day of the 2024 Black Hills Corvette Classic’s stop in Spearfish. When you think of cult followings for cars, the Corvette community is probably one of the first that comes to mind, with a devoted fanbase that has people from different walks of life all connecting over one thing.
Zap Lose Two Wild Games to Spearfish Friday and Saturday
The Spearfish Sasquatch and Oahe Zap played more of a football game than baseball game on both Friday and Saturday as the Sasquatch would win both games 21-10 over Oahe. Spearfish’s biggest inning of the weekend came on Friday night when they went from a 1-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth to leading 14-0 at the end of the half inning scoring 13 runs as five of those first 14 runs were unearned. Oahe busted out an eight run eighth inning on Friday which pulled the Zap within 17-10, but Spearfish tacked on four more in the ninth. In Friday’s game Mason Lang would hit a homer and have four RBIs going 4-4. Leandro Guevara would have another three RBIs for the Zap.

Winning Streak Ends for Zap at Seven
The Spearfish Sasquatch would get the win over the Oahe Zap at Hyde Stadium on Thursday with a four run ninth inning to win 7-5 ending the winning streak at seven. All four runs in the ninth inning were unearned as Oahe had two errors in the ninth and four in total of the game to stop the winning streak. Garren Gladhill and Vince Polizzi would both double while Tyler Hoffman and Mason Lang each had two hits. Polizzi had three RBIs for the Zap. Oahe had built a 5-0 lead with a four run third and another run in the fourth, but couldn’t score in the late innings to try and help secure a win.
