Olathe teen dies attempting to render aid during early-morning collision
MERRIAM, Kan. (KCTV) - An Olathe teen lost his life as he attempted to render aid during an early morning collision on I-35 that seriously injured a Kansas City woman. The Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that just before 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, emergency crews were called to the area of southbound I-35 and Johnson Dr., near the Ikea in Merriam, with reports of a collision.
Grasshoppers becoming an issue in central, western Kansas
In the insect world, the cicadas stole the show in 2024 with the emergence of the 13-year and 17-year broods together for the first time in 221 years. While billions of the insects are impacting life in the eastern United States, another insect is making itself known in central and western Kansas: the grasshopper.
