Former Chiefs lineman sentenced to hard labor for animal cruelty
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs has been convicted on two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. Tuscaloosa County District Judge Joanne Jannik sentenced Buggs on July 19 to a year of hard labor, ordering him to serve 60 days. The rest would be suspended for two years “pending the behavior of the defendant."
KU Cancer Center, Health System receive $20 million in federal investments
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The University of Kansas Cancer Center and The University of Kansas Health System have received $10 million apiece in federal investments. U.S. Senator Jerry Moran announced the news on Friday afternoon. The KU Cancer Center will use the money for the new cancer building, while the health system will use it for advanced cardiac technology to be used for patient care.
