Church announces groundbreaking date for first temple in Kansas
SALT LAKE CITY — A groundbreaking ceremony for the Wichita Kansas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held later this year. The First Presidency has announced the ceremony will be held on Sept. 7., according to a news release. Elder Steven R. Bangerter, first counselor in the North America Central Area Presidency, will preside at the event. The temple was first announced in April 2022 by President Russell M. Nelson.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - A Lawrence man was convicted in the 2023 shooting death of a Topeka man. Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez announced on Tuesday, July 23 that Maliqe Crenshaw, 23, of Lawrence, pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter in the 2023 shooting death of Cameron Renner, 20, of Topeka.
