Man pleads guilty in child pornography case

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Leavittsburg man pleaded guilty in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Wednesday to child pornography charges.

James Harper, 44, pleaded guilty to two counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and a pandering obscenity charge. The victims, a boy and girl, are now 13-years-old and 5-years-old, respectively.

The case was investigated in September of 2023 by the Warren Township Police Department and Trumbull County Children Services.

Prosecutors alleged pornography was downloaded to electronics belonging to Harper.

Harper, who will be declared a Tier 1 sexual offender at sentencing, will be required to register with the sheriff’s office once per year for the next 15 years. He will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation conducted by probation officers.

The mother of the victims told the judge she had no objections to the terms of the plea deal arrangement.
