Anheuser-Busch donates drinking water to the Neversink Fire Company

As a part of a nationwide effort to encourage disaster preparedness in local communities, a skid of canned water was donated to the Neversink Fire Company last month by Anheuser-Busch and its wholesale partner, Wilsbach Distributors Inc.

Neversink Fire Company Chief Josh Shank said that having water on hand is always important for firefighters, allowing them to recuperate from the heat while out on a call. Shank said that with an especially hot summer such as this, they go through water at an increased rate.

"The importance of donations from the community and the Anheuser-Busch grant, it's very helpful to us as a department, and also mutual aid companies, because when we get on these long durations in the hot summer time, with the heat and humidity, rehab is very important," said Shank. "Getting the guys fresh water, cold drinks, whether it's cold or warm, it's greatly appreciated."

While some local funds are used to purchase drinkable water for the fire company, Shank said that their supply is supplemented by donations. When they feel as if they're getting low on their drinkable water supply, they usually begin to reach out through Facebook, looking to see if there's any interest in donations.

Shank said that as a part of the grant, Neversink Fire Company distributed several cases of water to mutual aid departments like South Lebanon, Mount Gretna, Annville-Cleona, Cornwall, Quentin, Palmyra and Speedwell.
