Mom arrested after choking son in trailer park

LEBANON, Ind. — A Lebanon woman was arrested after she reportedly attacked her children in a rage earlier this month.

Katty Walker, 34, was charged with:

• Domestic Battery Committed In The Presence of a Child Less than 16 Years Old
• Domestic Battery On A Person Less Than 14 Years Old
• Strangulation

The Lebanon Police Department was dispatched to an undisclosed address in Lebanon on a report of a battery that occurred between mother and son on Thursday. The son reported to officers that his mother choked him and left the home on foot.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the 13-year-old juvenile victim, additional witnesses, as well as their legal guardian and grandmother. The officer observed redness, bruising and a cut around the 13-year-old boy’s neck.

According to court documents, the witnesses said that Walker was drinking Fireball whiskey with her boyfriend, whom she has a protective no-contact order from. When leaving, Walker’s boyfriend drove from the home and nearly crashed, so the children called their grandmother to help.

The grandmother came home from work and noticed that Walker was angry and packing her suitcase. She also threatened to take one of the three children, but the grandmother did not feel comfortable due to her behavior. However, Walker insisted and placed the child in a wagon and began to escape down the street. The other children closely followed and Walker eventually turned around.

When they finally reached Elm Street Trailer Park, the juvenile victim grabbed the child from the wagon. The mother approached the 13-year-old for taking the other child and began choking him. The additional juvenile at the scene attempted to get her mother off her brother but was somehow cut in the process. The two were able to get the additional child.

When the attack was over, Walker went outside of the home and began to rip the 13-year-olds blinds down from outside of the house. The juvenile then went outside, and they started fighting, and she choked him again. At this time, the juvenile sister grabbed a curtain rod and whacked her mom with it, which caused her to let go of the boy. They then called 911.

Walker had a welt on her arm from being struck by the curtain rod.

Walker was transported to the Boone County Jail after being found near the scene.
