Looking for something to do locally in Wilson County this Fourth of July?

Several local cities have their own Independence Day activities.

Here is an overview of all the events in Lebanon, Mt. Juliet and Watertown.

    Lebanon

The city’s 4th of July Celebration will be held from 5-9:30 p.m., at the midway area of the James E. Ward Agricultural Center, 945 E. Baddour Parkway in Lebanon.

Live music by SweetN3 and Eldorado, games and kids activities that will include cornhole, face painting and balloon art and food trucks are planned leading up to a fireworks show.

    Gates open at 4 p.m.

Lebanon police officers will help direct outgoing traffic when the fireworks display ends.

Drivers should be aware that Sparta Pike at Briskin Lane is down to one lane in each direction for road widening, Lebanon police spokesperson Zach Patton said.

    Mt. Juliet

Mt. Juliet’s Independence Day celebration will be held starting at 5 p.m., July 4, at Circle P Ranch, 563 E. Main Street.

Leading up to fireworks will be the Two Rivers Ford Tailgate Party with food trucks, live music and a foam party. Free watermelon will be available while supplies last, Mt. Juliet officials said.

The US Community Credit Union fireworks show will be held at 9 p.m.

Premium viewing for the fireworks include Circle P Ranch, parking at Victory Baptist Church and Hamilton-Denson Park along Tate Lane, the train depot and parking lots near Mt. Juliet Road and Division Street, according to Mt. Juliet Police Deputy Chief Tyler Chandler.

Views are also available at parking lots along Mt. Juliet Road from Old Lebanon Dirt Road to the post office.

Traffic plan after fireworks: After the fireworks show ends at around 9:30 p.m., West Division Street will be closed from Mt. Juliet Road to Brookstone Boulevard. Traffic that exits parking areas around Tate Lane and East Main Street will be directed westbound towards South Greenhill Road. Traffic that exits viewing areas around 4th Avenue and Hickory Station Lane will be directed eastbound towards Mt. Juliet Road.

    Watertown

The town’s annual Stars, Stripes and Squirt Guns parade will start at 4 p.m., beginning at Round Lick Baptist Church, heading east down Main Street and ending at Jewel’s Market and Pizza.

Residents and those along the parade path can shoot their own squirt guns, according to parade coordinator Brandye Thomas.

The parade also has a "dry section” with no squirt guns. Classic cars, horses, and Shriners will be part of the parade.

Fireworks start at dusk at Three Forks Park. Food trucks at the park and square are also planned, Thomas said.

    Field of Flags

More than 200 U.S. flags are expected to be displayed at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center at 945 Baddour Parkway in Lebanon now through July 4.

The public can walk through the field of flags and take pictures.

Flags are available to buy for $35 and proceeds will benefit the American Legion Post 15, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5015, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1004 and the Associates Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1004.

Barbecue will also be for sale for $12 per pound, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5015 Commander Bill Moss said.

Proceeds from the Field of Flags will help programs to assist veterans with rent, electric bills, food and other needs.

    Times are noon-5 p.m. on Saturday-Sunday, noon-6 p.m. during the week and noon-7 p.m. on July 4.

Flags to honor the memory of someone will be available on site. Flags or barbecue can also be purchased online at www.vfwpost5015.org/field-of-flags.
