A Montgomery County Police officer observed a driver committing a traffic violation in Downtown Bethesda early Saturday morning. The driver of the car fled on foot but was apprehended. Police searched the vehicle and located a 9mm handgun.

Virginia Dream FC soccer team wins another championship
The Virginia Dream FC soccer team, on the heels of becoming the United Premier Soccer League’s DMV South Conference playoff champions, also won another recent title. The Dream, based in Falls Church, defeated the host Annapolis Blues, 2-0, to win the men’s National Premier Soccer League’s Mid-Atlantic Conference crown. The win came after the Dream earned a 3-2 comeback victory over Alexandria Reds Pro in a semifinal match.
Community Rallies Around Family After Tragic Housefire
Last Friday, around 55 firefighters responded to a house fire in the 11400 block of Neelsville Church Road in Germantown. An 80-year-old man was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, and a family of six has been displaced. A GoFundMe campaign has been created which has currently raised over $2,400 in donations.
Store employee scares off skimmer scammers in Vienna
An employee at Wawa, 465 Maple Ave., W., informed Vienna police July 16 at 5:55 p.m. that a couple had come into the store and the woman had distracted the employee while the man attempted to install what the employee believed was a card skimmer to the register’s card reader.
Dunkin’ Donuts to open in August
Dunkin’ Donuts is expected to open on Columbia Pike in Annandale the first week of August, according to the general contractor working on renovating the building. The shop will offer the same items as any other Dunkin’ Donuts: donuts, coffee, latte, espresso, frozen drinks, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and muffins.
