Nathan Piccotti, son of David and Kristie Piccotti of Pittston, is celebrating his 12th birthday today. Nathan is the grandson of Elenor Lapsansky of Inkerman, David Piccotti Sr. of Taylor and Bill and the late Candy Kennedy of Laflin. He is the great-grandson of Ruth Katarsky, Pittston.
White Haven celebrates bicentennial
White Haven officials and residents celebrated the borough's 200th birthday this weekend with a street festival featuring food trucks, local vendors, eating contests, live music and more. The festival was held along Main Street with more than 40 food and retail vendors in attendance, primarily local businesses.

Joanne Salsman, 71, of Golden Hill passed away at her home on Thursday morning, July 25, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sayre, on Sept. 2, 1952, Joanne was the daughter of the late Vera Woodruff (d. Aug. 1, 1995) and Howard Salsman, Sr. (d. Dec. 11, 1977). After growing up in the Laceyville area, she would first find employment as a glass blower at Nepp Wire in Meshoppen before finding her calling as owner of the Trail Inn, also in Meshoppen.
